I’m a native Japanese speaker living in Yokohama.
横浜在住の日本語ネイティブです。
I graduated from a university in Kyoto in 2023, where I studied English literature and Japanese linguistics.

私は高校や大学で留学生に日本語を教えてきました。この経験を通して、私は日本語学習者の皆さんにとって日本語を身につけることがどれほど大変なことなのかを知りました。
私は皆さんのペースに合わせて日本語を話します。わからないところは皆さんにちゃんと理解してもらえるまで丁寧にゆっくり説明します。私がなんていったかわからなかった箇所は他の日本語で言い換えるか、英語で言い換えることもできます。
I have taught international students Japanese at high school and university. Through this experience, I realized how hard it was for Japanese learners to acquire the ability to speak Japanese.
I will speak Japanese at your level. When you have something you don’t understand, I will explain kindly until you truly understand. I can rephrase what I said using plain Japanese or English if you want. Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven

I'll welcome all-level learners!
Whenever you say unnatural expressions, mis-pronounce, or make grammatical mistakes, I'll point out and correct them.
The atmosphere in my lesson is very relaxing, so please don’t be afraid of making mistakes! Or rather, it's okay to make many mistakes! ^ ^

This teacher is really fantastic. She will often point out things that you do that sound non-native, so you can perfect your linguistic ability and sound more like a native Japanese. It is hard to find a teacher that points such things out. I definitely recommend this teacher.

My Japanese becomes rusty without Emi, so I am always grateful that she is here to help.

Every lesson with Emi-san is full of laughter and I feel really accomplished when we finish. We are now having bits of conversation in simple Japanese, something I wasn't sure I'd ever been able to do, and it's all thanks to her enthusiasm and niceness that motivates me to keep up studying.

Great lesson with Emi! We reviewed the workbook page that I completed. After that, Emi had me build sentences using vocabulary from lesson 9 and grammar from lesson 11. Next, we continued doing exercises from lesson 11 in the textbook. Since it was our last lesson of 2025, we gave each other thanks and congratulations. Emi remarked about how much progress I made, which was really motivating!
