Joy Kim

I've had more than 30 lessons with Joy over the course of about a year and a half, and I've recommended her to many friends. She's always energetic, kind, and patient, and she adapts our lessons to whatever is currently interesting or confusing me. We've worked on many different kinds of things together: sometimes going over lessons from the TTMIK grammar books (for which she has lots of useful exercises for practicing the concepts), sometimes reviewing/correcting/discussing things I've written between our sessions, sometimes just having conversations in Korean (sometimes with topic prompts/questions she provides and sometimes just spontaneous). I'm much more confident speaking Korean now than I was when I first started working with her, and I'm very glad I found her at italki! I'm an intermediate learner, but I would recommend her to more beginner learners, as well, because she is so kind, patient, and encouraging.

Joy is an excellent teacher. She is always cheerful and creates a positive, encouraging atmosphere during the lessons. The lesson notes are added to an online Google document, which includes everything we covered in class and is very helpful for reviewing the material and preparing for the next lesson. Overall, I’m very happy with her teaching.

Thank you for another great lesson, Joy! You are such a fun teacher to learn from. I’m always comfortable with asking about things I don’t understand, and I look forward to the next class!

Had an amazing trial lesson with Joy 선생님! We pretty much had a full conversation for 30 minutes in Korean and if there were any words I didn't know she was quick to help out without interrupting the flow of the conversation.

Joy is consistently eager to help and clarify every grammar point / word / translation / etc. in detail. I always leave the class session feeling eager to learn more because of her teaching and guidance.
