Seunghwan Lee (Swen)

Thank you 승환씨! He is a very motivating teacher, always encouraging and passionate about helping you improve. He always motivates me to improve. You couldn't ask for a better teacher!

I normally prefer not to give an opinion/review after having a class or few because I don't think that amount of time really reflects on anything significant of any teachers. I've had Korean class with Seungwhan 11 times and have already booked 10 more in advance. Eventhough he was classified as a community teacher, I think he deserves to be called a professional. He discussed what my concern and my level was before starting the class, gave me an outline for the course and let me choose which style of teaching i preferred. The powerpoint files he used during classes were easy to follow & clear enough to understand right away during the class. His personality is also very nice, you won't feel awkward talking to him in either English or Korean. Overall, great teacher!

Today I had my first trial session with Seunghwan ssi and I enjoyed it very much. I had been checking out videos for two weeks trying to decide on a possible teacher/tutor and finally went for him. Right from the beginning, Seunghwan was very relaxed, interested and easy to talk to. We spoke mostly in English in order to get to know each other and for him to assess my knowledge and probable learning schedule. Nevertheless, I could tell he was very natural and fluent in English, which is helpful for me going forward, if I need to express myself or ask questions due to my lack of Korean vocabulary. I had teachers on other platforms who would immediately jump into Korean from the get go which is terrifying and a lot of pressure if you are a beginner and only know the very basics. That can be frustrating as well. But as I said, Seunghwan made this first meet up very fun and interesting. :-)

이승환 is an excellent teacher. He is very patient and knowledgeable about how to teach to a non-native speaker student. His lessons are challenging and push me to work at my level. He has me do more than I think I can. As a retired teacher I really appreciate that about him.

It was my son’s first lesson with Swen earlier today. He enjoyed the conversation and wants to continue with him. I appreciated that he tried to affirm with my son that it is his desire, not mine, to learn Korean. Swen explained the process with me and set the expectation. He seems to genuinely care for my son’s learning and development.

이승환 씨 is a very patient teacher. That helps me to relax as I struggle with new material. He is excellent at helping me get past the hard parts.
