Hugh Luo-Tatebe

Hugh is great at conveying an understanding of Japanese, teaching how something is said and why it is structured that way. His focus on grammar and sentence structure has enabled me to learn phrases and also to construct my own. I look forward to continuing my lessons with him.

Hugh is a lovely teacher who is extremely easy to talk to. The lessons are very enjoyable, whether it is conversing in Japanese, or translating sentences. I am also amazed by his ability to not only converse in Japanese and English, but in multiple other languages as well!:) Hugh-さんはそごく相談しやすくて、レッスンはいつも楽しいです。いつもありがとうございます！

Great lesson with Hugh-sensei! Great explanations of nuances of Japanese grammar.

Hugh is a very supportive, patient and personable sensei. I have taken a few lessons with him now. I find it especially helpful that he is both a native Japanese and English speaker. He is able to explain things to me in everyday plain English. I enjoy our classes very much and have been learning a lot from him.

You can have all kinds of fun conversations while the teacher shares his own experiences and personal values. It’s a wonderful opportunity to not only practice the language but also to explore different cultures.
