Mayumi Sensei’s Pattern Practice Course has been transformative for my Japanese speaking skills. I used to struggle with intonation and pitch accent, but the lessons have helped me improve tremendously. Mayumi Sensei provides excellent guidance, and the course instructions are clear, practical, and easy to apply in real conversations. Through consistent practice and feedback, I have become much more aware of natural Japanese rhythm, pitch, and pronunciation. Mayumi sensei’s pattern practice lessons are truly effective. Having recently returned from a trip to Tokyo, I found practically all the service staff (who could code switch between Japanese and English) speaking with me comfortably in Japanese instead of English. Despite being an intermediate learner, this has not happened to me previously before I started pattern practice and I attribute this to Mayumi-san fixing my pitch accent and mora such that I can speak in a way that is easier for native speakers to understand. While textbooks serve as a good grammar base, the pattern practice curriculum trains the learner to speak more like a native person and to communicate better. I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to become fluent.
