Hi everyone!
My name is Hiroka. I was born and raised in Tokyo. Now I live in Tokyo with my husband,our cat and 2 kids. If I had to describe myself, I'd say I'm more of an indoor person. I enjoy cooking and watching TV shows at home. But every now and then, I love exploring unfamiliar neighborhoods—discovering new things, meeting new people, and of course, enjoying delicious food. There’s always something exciting out there! I also really enjoy talking about different cultures with people from around the world.Every day, I’m learning how to create more engaging and fun classes.

The first time I taught Japanese was during my time at university, and I found it to be a truly enjoyable experience. That experience motivated me to pursue teaching as a career. In my teaching, I strive to create a supportive and welcoming environment, and to build strong, respectful relationships with my students—regardless of their proficiency level. Please don’t be afraid of making mistakes; they are an essential and valuable part of the learning journey.

I offer lessons focused on conversation practice, incorporating newly learned grammar, as well as preparation for the JLPT. If you're interested in Japanese culture, manga, anime, or planning to travel to Japan someday, you are very welcome to join my classes! I can teach Japanese using English and Chinese. While I primarily conduct lessons in Japanese, please don’t hesitate to use English or Chinese if you need clarification or support during the lesson.

Hiroka is such a sweet person. I was always trying to challenge myself to talk with another native speaker who's English is not as high. I eventually got by to talk with a native speaker like her and she made me very comfortable to talk to me gently and provided a little feedback. I still like to improve my Japanese, so I could speak it fluently.

ひろかさんは優しい人です！二つ目レッスンも楽しかった！Hiroka-san is so lovely to talk with. My second conversation lesson was very fun, interesting, and I came away with some very useful phrases about topics that I frequently talk about :) Thank you! See you next time! またね！

Had my first lesson with Hiroka sensei. She was patient and calm, and encouraged me to speak which helped my confidence. She has been a teacher for a long time so she is familiar with common stumbling blocks which can help if you are more focused on that
