Hey there! My name is Femke, nice to meet you :)
Born and raised in the area of Amsterdam and having moved around the Netherlands, Iāve experienced life in the active big cities of the country, as well as itās calm, tiny villages.
Three years ago I took a leap and moved to Portugal, because I absolutely fell in love with the country. Now, Iām living in Porto and Iām more excited than ever to share my passion for teaching.
I offer a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQI+ / queer and neurodivergent students š

Languages have always fascinated me! Besides Dutch, I am fluent in English, speak Portuguese B2 level, and speak a little Spanish. Since Iāve gone through the language-learning journey myself, I know what works (and what doesnāt).
I love helping people gain confidence in speaking Dutch, and forming a connection with my students. I believe learning should be fun, meaningful, and adapted to each studentās needs. Everyone learns differently, so I personalize my lessons to make sure they fit your learning style. My goal is to create a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment where you can learn at your own pace and gradually improve with confidence :)Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven
My lessons are designed to be interactive and engaging. We can focus on conversation, reading, listening, music, or a mixāwhatever suits you best! If you already know what works for you, great! If not, let's figure it out together. I also love incorporating topics that interest you, so learning Dutch feels natural and enjoyable.

Het was weer een leuke en productieve les met Femke. Vandaag hebben wij over reclames gepraat. Femke had opnieuw een mooie presentatie voorbereid, met media en hele goede vragen om het gesprek te starten. Ik had zoveel ideeƫn in mijn hoofd, maar ik kon ze niet goed met haar delen. Gelukkig was Femke super ondersteunend. Zij hielp me mijn zinnen te structureren en de juiste woorden te vinden. Ik kan niet wachten op de volgende les! Dank je wel, Femke!

Today I had my first lesson with Femke. She has a very calming aura that makes me feel so relaxed and comfortable. She gave me the opportunity to speak and express myself ā we had many interesting conversations about ourselves, all in Dutch. For me, this is exactly the kind of space I need to practice my Dutch. My first Dutch lesson with Femke was a great experience šø Her passion for the language really shows, which has given me the confidence to trust in her knowledge and ability to help me improve my skills.
Femke is patient, clear in her explanations, creates a safe, welcoming space for questions and answers them thoughtfully. She also prepared a super fun and visually engaging presentation that made the lesson even more enjoyable āØ
