Aki

Aki-sensei is a very professional and dedicated teacher with an impressive student retention rate. (32 lessons on average per student ) That means her students are loyal and have been progressing with her methodology. Even though I’m a complete beginner (initially she is preparing new full material for complete beginners that will be ready for 2026),but after exchanging some messages, she kindly accepted to guide me. I’m excited to continue learning Japanese with her in my journey. Every student deserves to know a teacher like her.

I am really impressed with how intuitive Aki-san is- she always picks up on the things that I'm struggling with, even if I don't realize what they are. Then she knows exactly what to do to help me improve. Additionally, she does all this while still having a fun and engaging conversation! ありがとうございました！また次のレッスンを楽しみにしています！

If you are looking for not only an incredible teacher, but also an incredible human, Aki-sensei is the person you're looking for. I've studied with many teachers on italki, and no one makes me feel more comfortable. She is patient, great at continuing a conversation, an expert at explaining unknown Japanese words/ phrases in Japanese, and most importantly she makes me more passionate about learning the language. My lessons with Aki are primarily conversation practice-based. However, I have provided vocal lists or grammar points that I have struggled with in the past and she was able to explain them and integrate them into our conversation practice. I think if you are seeking conversation practice and to build speaking confidence (like me), Aki is the best teacher for you.

Another very fun lesson with Aki talking about the different ways to commute (on foot, bike, and public transportation), how some areas are dangerous at night but fine during the day, and how some places are harder to travel to than others when you don’t speak the language. Always such an enjoyable time with Aki, the time always seems to go by so quickly!
