Susie (Kids& Adults)

Susie is a natural-born teacher (great instincts for when to challenge me, when to indulge me, when to change topics/methods), who also extremely diligent (always prepared with materials for our lessons, and often with homework to assign, and also sends me class notes afterwards). (It's a really rare combination, as many gifted teachers don't bother putting in the work, and no amount of diligence can make up for a lack of natural talent.) Our lessons are both fun and challenging, she happily lets me steer her off topic with random questions (which she answers brilliantly), but always manages to bring us back on track, and she also frequently circles back to things I learned in previous lessons, so I don't forget. I really can't rave about her enough, although I selfishly hope she doesn't get too popular, because I don't want other people to steal my timeslots, and I plan to continue with her for a long time!

I hate to keep giving Susie great reviews, because I selfishly don't want other students booking up all her time. But really, she's excellent! (As a former educator myself, I often marvel at how good she is, what a natural teacher, but also how well-prepared and diligent she is.) I just had my 127th lesson with her, and I've enjoyed every single one, and my Chinese has gotten so much better!

Second lesson with Susie. I already feel like I'm learning a lot with her. I'm getting great speaking and listening practice as well as grammar enhancement and vocabulary acquisition. As well as review notes after class. Would definitely recommend

I really dislike iTalki's fixed choice of adjectives to describe my teacher's personality. Susie is BOTH "disciplined" in the sense that she has clearly prepared for the lesson AND "casual" in the sense that she doesn't mind deviating from the lesson plan if I have questions or other topics I want to discuss. She is BOTH "energetic" in the sense that she never seems tired or out of sorts and always encourages me to keep going AND "calm" in the sense that she never rushes me, never seems to get stressed out. I never know what three adjectives to pick! Take any positive interpretation of any of these adjectives, and it would describe Susie! (And no negative interpretations would, obviously.)

I really liked the way she approached our session. She filled out my speaking ability in a delicate way. Thoughtful learning environment, I will go back for sessions.
