Hello, future friends! I’m your Chinese teacher, from Xi’an, China. For the past four years on italki, I’ve taught students worldwide, sharing the beauty of Chinese. My own language adventure has taken me from China to teaching in Tanzania, Africa, and now to Japan, where I'm currently working on my Ph.D. in Linguistics.
As a language learner myself, I understand the challenges and joys of mastering a new tongue. In our lessons, we’ll move beyond textbooks to master real-world, authentic Chinese. We’ll also explore language logic, cultural stories, and even Chinese calligraphy (my 10-year passion). I aim to be your teacher, guide, and friend. Let's get started!
1.I have an English degree and am currently pursuing a PhD in Linguistics in Japan, I apply scientific methods for efficient Chinese learning.
2.One year as a volunteer teacher in Tanzania, Africa, specializing in cross-cultural student support.
3.Since 2019, I've conducted over 1,500 online classes, teaching students from age 4 to 62.

Volunteer Chinese TeacherServed as a Chinese language and cultural ambassador at the Confucius Institute. I mainly taught Mandarin Chinese to primary and secondary school students. My responsibilities included lesson planning, classroom instruction, and creating engaging materials. My teaching was structured around established curricula including HSK, YCT and Happy Chinese to effectively develop their language skills. I also organized cultural workshops and events to promote a deeper understanding of Chinese culture.

It was my first ever speaking lesson and Lucy was incredibly kind and patient in helping me feel less nervous and encouraged me to speak.
As a teacher myself, I know how challenging it can be to teach students who are new to the language but Lucy was a complete professional. Will definitely book again.
