Hello, I am Derian Chen, my Chinese name is 陈智福 (Chén Zhìfú), and I am 华人 (Huá Rén), which means Chinese ethnicity or descent, regardless of nationality. I was born in Indonesia and raised in a Chinese overseas community. My ancestors came from Fujian province, China.
I have over 5 years of teaching experience, having started my career in high school. I hold both a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree, with my Master’s focused on teaching Chinese to foreigners. I am fluent in English, so during the class, when I am explaining grammar and new words, there won’t be a language barrier.Ik als leerkracht
as a teacher, I use different techniques and teaching methods. I don't use only one book and or one internet resource, I use different books to give a comprehensive understanding of Chinese language Speaking, listening, reading and writing are essential while learning Chinese. My responsibility is to introduce the characters in visual form, let the student understand from which strokes every character consists, develop listing and writing skills, practicing tones until they start to come naturally. together we will learn Chinese from the very basic structures to advanced. Another amazing lesson , I have been taking classes with him for quite some time and he is a really patient and understanding teacher. Sometimes I forget the words we have learned, yet he consistently makes an effort to correct me and provide explanations, while still offering numerous opportunities for me to speak in class. He encourages me greatly and is willing to assist in any way I need to improve my language skills.
