This is a fun set of terms you'll often hear in my hometown of Toronto.

Toronto vernacular

A nickname for Toronto based on the abbreviation "T.O." (Toronto, Ontario).

Stands for Greater Toronto Area, including the city of Toronto and its suburbs.

Short for Mississauga, Toronto's huge western suburb. The locals use it because it's easier than saying the full original name.

Used instead of "meet up" or "get together."

Stands for Take The Car because the public transportation (Toronto Transit Commission) is often too slow or unreliable.

Used in public instead of "restroom," which sounds American, or "bathroom," which implies a bathtub.

A case of 24 beers and the Victoria Day long weekend (May 24), which often go together.
