This lesson looks at the problems inherent in welfare systems around the world and looks at the positives and negatives of a Universal Basic Income as a solution to this. Students will watch a video on the subject and read an article on the pros and cons of a Universal Basic Income. Exercises focus on related vocabulary and comprehension skills, as well as offering students a chance to discuss questions on the topic. An optional task offers students a chance to write an essay on the subject. This group lesson is for adult English students (B2-C1) who want to speak about a specific topic with a professional teacher and other students from all over the world! We will start by doing a warm-up game, work in pairs, and discuss the chosen topic. Please note: This group class is for students between the levels of B2-C1. Please read the worksheet and watch the video provided before the lesson starts completing all tasks. The goal of each lesson is to discuss a specific topic, expand vocabulary, and improve the student's confidence as an English speaker in a relaxed and fun environment. Since this is a conversation class, I encourage each student to speak openly with other students. Ask questions and share your opinions! Due to this being a group lesson, students will not be corrected individually. Instead, collective corrections will be noted and sent to each student at the end of the class.
