Today we have two phrasal verbs to say that you met someone accidentally or unintentionally. These are to "bump into" and to "run into". Remember, phrasal verbs are almost always informal!

けれど子狐は いったい人間なんてどんなものか見たい
と思いました。
ある窓の下を通りかかると、人間の声がしていました。
何というやさしい、何という美しい、何と言う
おっとりした声なんでしょう。

「ねむれ　ねむれ
　母の胸に、
　ねむれ　ねむれ
　母の手に――」

子狐はその歌声は、きっと人間のお母さんの声に
ちがいないと思いました。
だって、子狐が眠る時にも、やっぱり母さん狐は、
あんなやさしい声で ゆすぶってくれるからです。
