Opis
Level A2 (approx. band 3-4) · Academic and General Training
In IELTS you compare things all the time. In Speaking: "Is your town bigger than the capital?" In Writing Task 1, you compare numbers in a chart. Many learners say "more big", "more better" or "the most cheap".
In this episode:
• Short words: -er and the -est
• Long words: more and the most
• The irregular three, and as...as
• How big is the difference?
• First data language for writing task 1
• Reading lab
• Language bridge
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
Key points:
• One syllable: add -er and use than. For the top of a group, use the and -est.
• Long words use more and the most. Never put more and -er together.
• good, better, best. bad, worse, worst. Use as...as for things that are the same.
• much or far for a big difference. slightly or a little for a small one. Never very with -er.
• The second largest, twice as high as, and by far the most are key Task 1 phrases.
