El dios maya Itzamná es considerado uno de los dioses mayas más importantes, es el señor de los cielos y del día (también de la noche), es uno de los principales dioses mayas. Fue el primer sacerdote, por esta razón, se considera el señor de los sacerdotes, es considerado como el patrón del conocimiento, su misión era educar a la población maya y ayudarles a darle sentido a su mundo. Itzamná guardaba gran amor hacia la humanidad.
