As a general rule we spend time on continuous verbs. For instance, "I like to spend time improving my English". We can also devote time to things, commit time to things, set aside time for things, and earmark time for things.

B : Oui, en tarif normal ou en prioritaire ?
A : En prioritaire, s'il vous plaît.
B : D'abord, vous devez remplir cette fiche de douane.
A : Ah oui, "contenu du paquet" : un livre de cuisine.
B : Merci. Voilà, mademoiselle. Ça fait 8,50 euros. Il vous faut autre chose ?
A : Oui, je voudrais aussi un carnet de timbres pour l'Europe, s'il vous plaît.
B : Voilà, dix timbres à 0,50 euros. Ce sera tout ?
A : Non. Est-ce que vous avez aussi des jolis timbres ?
B : Oui, bien sûr. Voilà, nous avons des timbres qui représentent les principaux monuments de France.
A : C'est parfait ! Alors, donnez-moi cinq kolis timbres, s'il vous plaît.
B : Voilà, Au total, cela fera 16 euros.
