“这倒叫我有点紧张…我打不出哈欠来了…”小王子红着脸说。
"That frightens me... I cannot, any more..." murmured the little prince, now completely abashed.
“嗯！嗯！”国王回答道：“那么我…命令你忽而打哈欠，忽而…”
"Hum! Hum!" replied the king. "Then I – I order you sometimes to yawn and sometimes to–"
他嘟嘟囔囔，显出有点恼怒。
He sputtered a little, and seemed vexed.
因为国王所要求的主要是保持他的威严受到尊敬。
For what the king fundamentally insisted upon was that his authority should be respected.
他不能容忍不听他的命令。
He tolerated no disobedience.
他是一位绝对的君主。
He was an absolute monarch.
可是，他却很善良，他下的命令都是有理智的。

But, because he was a very good man, he made his orders reasonable.
“如果我命令一个将军,”他会说,举个例子,“如果我命令一个将军改变自己变成一个海鸟,”
"If I ordered a general," he would say, by way of example, "if I ordered a general to change himself into a sea bird,"
而这位将军不服从我的命令，那么这就不是将军的过错，而是我的过错。”
and if the general did not obey me, that would not be the fault of the general. It would be my fault.
小王子腼腆地试探道：“我可以坐下吗？”
"May I sit down?" came now a timid inquiry from the little prince.
“我命令你坐下。”国王一边回答，一边庄重地把他那白底黑花皮袍大襟挪动了一下。
"I order you to do so," the king answered him, and majestically gathered in a fold of his ermine mantle.
可是小王子感到很奇怪。
But the little prince was wondering...
这么小的行星，国王他对什么进行统治呢？
The planet was tiny. Over what could this king really rule?
他对国王说：“陛下…请原谅，我想问您…”
"Sire," he said to him, "I beg that you will excuse my asking you a question..."
国王急忙抢着说道：“我命令你问我。”
"I order you to ask me a question," the king hastened to assure him.
陛下…你统治什么呢？
Sire–over what do you rule?
国王非常简单明了地说：“我统治一切。”
"Over everything," said the king, with magnificent simplicity.
一切？
Over everything?
国王轻轻地用手指着他的行星和其他的行星，以及所有的星星。
The king made a gesture, which took in his planet, the other planets, and all the stars.
小王子说：“统治这一切？”
"Over all that?" asked the little prince.
“统治这一切。”国王回答。
"Over all that," the king answered.
原来他不仅是一个绝对的君主，而且是整个宇宙的君主。
For his rule was not only absolute: it was also universal.
那么，星星都服从您吗？
And the stars obey you?
“那当然！”国王对他说，“它们立即就得服从。我是不允许无纪律的。”

I saw a movie  ”おいしい給食（きゅうしょく）” recently.　This movie reminded me of my school lunch.　Do you know about Japanese school lunch？  I think it is totally different form your school lunch.  I will tell you the memory of my school lunch. I have many memories of it, so I will tell you one of them today. 

『おいしい給食　その１．』
給食って知っていますか。
これは、日本の小学校、中学校で　出されるお昼ご飯のことです。
最近、劇場版『おいしい給食』という映画を見ました。
その映画は、ある中学校を舞台にしたコメディドラマです。
給食が大好きな教師と　同じく　給食が大好きな生徒が　主人公です。
この映画の注目すべき点は、2人の給食の食べ方です。　先生の「これが王道だ」と言っているような普通の食べ方に対して、生徒は先生が思いつかないような工夫をして食べます。それを見た先生が、そのアイデアを思いつかなかったことに悔しがって、身もだえします。　その負けを認める姿がおもしろくてとてもかわいいです。

ここまでは、その映画の話ですが、ここからは　私の給食の思い出をお話したいと思います。

私も給食が大好きな子どもでした。　給食は事前にメニューが決められており、
月末に次の月の一か月分の献立表が配られます。
私は、献立表が配られると　すぐに　いつ好きなおかずが出るかをチェックしていました。
私の通っていた学校では、給食は学校の給食室で作られていました。
4時間目が終わるのが、１２：25。それから　給食当番に当たっている子どもたちが、エプロン、マスク、三角巾をして、給食室に行きます。
そして、自分たちのクラス全員の分の食事の入った入れ物を　クラスに運びます。

そして、それは1年生のときに起こりました。
わたしは　2人でパンを運ぶ係に当たっていました。
1年生の教室は、給食室から一番遠くて、運動場を横切って行かなければなりませんでした。
コッペパンが40個以上入っているパンの入れ物は、けっこう重かったと思います。
私は運動場の真ん中で、手を持ち換えようとして、うっかり手をすべらせてしまいました。
いくつかのパンが、開いたフタから飛び出て、地面に落ちてしまいました。
もう、真っ青です。「どうしよう！」その後のことは、あまりはっきり覚えていませんが、とにかく担任の先生におこられました。
それから、校内放送がありました。ピンポンパンポーン♪
「1年1組でパンが足りません。パンがあまっているクラスは、1年1組に届けてください。」　そのようなことが放送されたと思います。それで、クラスのみんなは、ちゃんとパンを食べることができました。

給食にまつわるエピソードはまだ他にもあります。
次回は第2弾をお話します。

Beginners 和食/わしょく を作ろう！

El Duende es una leyenda que se escucha en muchas regiones rurales de Colombia. Se dice que es una pequeña criatura traviesa que vive en los bosques y cerca de los ríos. El Duende suele ser inofensivo, pero le encanta hacer bromas a las personas, especialmente a los niños y a los campesinos.

Una de las características más conocidas del Duende es que le gusta trenzar el cabello de los caballos durante la noche. Los campesinos a menudo encuentran a sus caballos con las crines y colas llenas de trenzas imposibles de desatar. También se dice que el Duende secuestra a los niños que se portan mal o que desobedecen a sus padres, llevándolos a los montes y dejándolos allí hasta que prometen comportarse bien.

Para ahuyentar al Duende, algunos campesinos colocan tijeras abiertas o cruces en las puertas de sus casas, ya que se cree que estos objetos lo asustan.
