안녕하세요, 여러분! 오늘 팟캐스트에서는 한국어에서 자주 쓰이지만 학습자들에겐 생소할 수 있는 표현
[ -가지고]에 대해 이야기해 보려고 해요. 
우리가 흔히 아는 [그래서, -기 때문에, 왜냐하면] 등의 여러 표현 외에도, 일상 대화에서 [-가지고]라는 표현을 굉장히 많이 사용해요.
영어로는 ‘because’ 나 ‘since’의 의미로 이해하면 돼요.

우선, [-가지고]는 약간 구어체적인 느낌을 주는데요, 특히 친구들끼리 편하게 대화할 때 자주 쓰여요. 
예를 들어, “아, 늦잠 자가지고 수업에 늦었어”라고 하면 “늦잠 자서 수업에 늦었어”와 비슷한 의미지만, 좀 더 캐주얼하게 들리죠.

예문으로 볼까요?
"배가 너무 고파가지고 편의점에서 뭐 좀 샀어."

여기서 -가지고는 "너무 배고파서"의 뜻이에요. 이렇게 가볍게 이유를 덧붙이는 느낌이죠.

"버스를 놓쳐가지고 학교에 걸어갔어."

“버스를 놓쳐서”라고 할 수도 있지만, [-가지고]를 쓰면 좀 더 말하는 사람의 불만스러운 느낌이 잘 살아요.

마찬가지로,
"길이 막혀가지고 늦었어."

길이 막혀서 늦었어 대신, 더 원어민스러운 느낌이 들죠.
