There was a large earthquake in Kumamoto Prefecture this week. When an earthquake occurs, it is important to stay calm and seek correct information. 🔶 Verb (Short Form Past) + とき　　When... 
Example:

I was at home when the earthquake occurred. 
子供（こども）のとき、よくこの公園（こうえん）で遊（あそ）びました。 
When I was a child, I often played in this park.

🔶 Verb (Te-form) + おく 　To do something in advance 
Used to describe an action performed in preparation for a future event or for a specific purpose. 
Example: 
家族（かぞく）と話（はな）しておくといいです。 
It is good to talk with your family in advance. 
パーティーの前（まえ）に、料理（りょうり）を作（つく）っておきます。 
I will cook the food in advance before the party.

🔶 〜たら　If / When
Verb (Short Form Past) + ら 
Example: 
地震（じしん）が起（お）きたら、あわてないでください。 
If an earthquake happens, please do not panic. 
明日（あした）雨（あめ）が降（ふ）ったら、出（で）かけません。 
If it rains tomorrow, I will not go out.
