几 (jǐ) and 多少 (duōshǎo) are both words in Chinese that can be translated as "how many" or "how much" in English, but they are used in different contexts and convey slightly different meanings.
几 (jǐ) is usually used to ask about a small quantity, it can be roughly under 10, the number is vague.
For example:
你有几个兄弟？ (Nǐ yǒu jǐ gè xiōngdì?)
How many brothers do you have?
我这里有几张照片？ (Wǒ zhèlǐ yǒu jǐ zhāng zhàopiàn?)
How many photos do I have here?
现在几点？
Xiànzài jǐ diǎn
What time is it now?

多少 (duōshǎo) is usually used to ask about a bigger quantity. When the number is not certain but you assume it's definitely more than ten, it's better to ask the question with 多少 (duōshao) instead of 几 (jǐ). For example:
这个东西多少钱？ (Zhège dōngxi duōshǎo qián?)
How much does this thing cost?
你的工资多少？ (Nǐ de gōngzī duōshǎo?)
How much is your salary?

Note that in some contexts, 几 (jǐ) and 多少 (duōshǎo) can be used interchangeably, especially in spoken Chinese. In this case, the choice of word may depend on the speaker's style or emphasis.

Describe a time you were very busy.

You should say: 

When it was.
Why you were so busy.
How you managed it.
And explain how you felt about being so busy.





“ One of the busiest times I experienced was about 3 months ago, when I had to finish a very important and difficult assignment in order to graduate in my major, business management. 

I had only 2 weeks to complete this paper, and if I didn't meet the deadline, I would automatically fail my finals, as well as being unable to graduate, so it was of great importance to me. I also had a part-time job at this time, which took up a lot of my time and didn’t actually leave much time to complete my paper. 

The assignment was also very challenging, certainly  no walk in the park  and I needed to do a lot of research as well as collect a lot of data before I could even start to brainstorm ideas on how I would complete it. This meant I had to burn the midnight oil, and pull a few all nighters to be certain of having it finished to meet the deadline.

Although I didn’t exactly enjoy being so busy and under so much pressure, I felt very proud and satisfied to have completed the assignment after working all the hours god sent me. I was on cloud nine when I received my grade and discovered I got a straight A for the paper, and could now look forward to graduating.

Describe a time you were very busy - IELTS speaking part 2

We know we should appreciate people more often but do we know how to acknowledge them and why is it even so important? 

In a conversation when you acknowledge people, they feel heard and valued. They become more open-minded even if you are opposing their beliefs. It’s because, through your acknowledgment of their ideas, they know that you have been listening and you understand where they are coming from. If you want to do business with people or maintain a good relationship with them, without learning how to acknowledge people, you will get nowhere.

Acknowledging is easy.

Just paraphrase what they said and follow up with a relevant question or your opinion. Paraphrasing proves that you understand them since you express their ideas using your own words. 

During negotiations or discussions even if you disagree with people, you can make them hear you out by disagreeing politely or by partially disagreeing with them. A strong disagreement shows that you are unwilling to talk. This makes the negotiation take a negative turn and go downhill. 

So, disagree politely and follow up with relevant questions to show that you are interested in learning more about them. 

What you do is often reciprocated. When you listen, they listen. When you show interest in people, they will show interest in you. When you acknowledge them, they will acknowledge your work, ideas, and suggestions.

Acknowledge people. Have more discussions and not arguments.
