はい、こんにちは。今回はポッドキャストの19回目です。暖かくなったと思ったら、急に寒くなったので、せっかくしまったジャケットを出さなければなりませんでした。今日もちょっと寒いです。このポッドキャストを配信しているAnchorの統計によると、3月の下旬から、1週間の再生回数が200回を超えるようになりました。ポッドキャストを始めた時は、こんなにたくさんの人に聞いてもらえるとは思っていませんでした。どうもありがとうございます。

Hi, This is the podcast episode 19. Just when I thought it was getting warmer, it suddenly got cold and I had to take out my jacket that I had put away. It's a bit cold again today. According to the statistics from Anchor, the platform that distributes this podcast, the podcast has had over 200 plays per week since late March. When I started the podcast, I didn't expect so many people to listen to it. Thank you very much.

今日は鯵フライを作りました。鯵フライは、鯵という魚を揚げた料理です。私は近頃よく揚げ物を作ります。「揚げ物」とは、揚げて作る料理のことです。てんぷらも、唐揚げも、フライドポテトも、すべて揚げ物です。小麦粉とパン粉と卵と油があれば、なんでも揚げられるので便利です。一般的には「揚げ物を作るのは面倒臭い」という人が多いですね。油をたくさん使わなければならないし、調理中はずっと作業をしなくてはいけないし、油の後始末も大変です。「後始末」とは、使い終わったものを捨てることです。油はシンクに流してはいけませんから、専用の薬品で固めたりして捨てます。

Today I made Aji fries. Aji fry is a deep-fried fish called Aji (horse mackerel). I often make Agemono these days. “Anemono” (fried food) means food that is deep-fried. Tempura, Karaage, French fries - they are all Agemono. It is convenient because you can fry anything if you have flour, breadcrumbs, eggs and oil. In general, many people say that cooking Agemono is a hassle. You have to use a lot of oil, you have to work the whole time while it is cooking and Atoshimatsu the oil takes time. “Atoshimatsu” (cleaning up afterwards) means throwing away what you've used. Oil should not be poured down the sink, so you have to use special chemicals to solidify it or otherwise dispose of it.

それでも私は、揚げ物を作ることを面倒臭いとは思いません。むしろ、毎日違うメニューを考えるほうが面倒です。「むしろ」は、二つの事実を比べて、後に言うことを強調するときに使います。肉や魚を買うだけで作れる揚げ物は、とても楽です。ウィキペディアで調べたら、日本では奈良時代(710-794年)から揚げ物が作られているそうです。日本食には健康的なイメージがありますが、「かりんとう」という伝統的な揚げ物のお菓子は、カロリーが高いです。卵もバターも使いませんが、カロリーはクッキーと同じぐらいです。食べ過ぎは良くないですね。

“As I live in a pretty small town, I haven't had the opportunity to meet many people from different countries or cultures, but I've had the pleasure of getting to know James, an English teacher from the UK. 

James hails from London, and moved here about 2 years ago to work as an English tutor in one of the local high schools. I guess he’s in his mid-twenties, and being one of the few foreigners here, has become a kind of local celebrity. 

The first time I met James was at an English corner, which was held at one of the local coffee shops in town. I saw it advertised, and decided to go along, as I really needed to brush up on my English speaking skills. I remember, I was the first to arrive, and introduced myself to James, and was immediately taken aback when he started to introduce himself in the local dialect! 

We got chatting, and hit it off from the start, getting along like a house on fire. Not only did it turn out that we were both football fanatics, but also shared the same taste in music. 

We have since become the best of mates, and hang out at least once or twice a week. I really love chatting to him, and getting to learn all about English culture, as well as sharing different aspects of my own culture with him. I have great respect for James, as he has really made an effort to immerse himself into the local culture here. On top of that, getting to know him has been a real eye opener, and helped to dispel any negative cultural stereotypes.”

जयपुर शहर भारत संघ के सबसे बड़े राज्य राजस्थान की राजधानी है। जयपुर राजस्थान का सबसे बडा शहर है। जयपुर को पिंक सिटी अथवा गुलाबी नगरी भी कहते है, इसको सबसे पहले स्टैनली रीड ने पिंक सिटी बोला था । जयपुर की स्थापना आमेर के महाराजा सवाई जयसिंह ने की थी। यूनेस्को द्वारा जुलाई 2019 में जयपुर को वर्ल्ड हेरिटेज सिटी का दर्जा दिया गया है जयपुर अपनी समृद्ध भवन निर्माण-परंपरा, सरस-संस्कृति और ऐतिहासिक महत्व के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। यह शहर तीन ओर से अरावली पर्वतमाला से घिरा हुआ है। जयपुर शहर की पहचान यहाँ के महलों और पुराने घरों में लगे गुलाबी धौलपुरी पत्थरों से होती है जो यहाँ के स्थापत्य की खूबी है। १८७६ में तत्कालीन महाराज सवाई रामसिंह ने इंग्लैंड की महारानी एलिज़ाबेथ प्रिंस ऑफ वेल्स युवराज अल्बर्ट के स्वागत में पूरे शहर को गुलाबी रंग से सजा दिया था। तभी से शहर का नाम गुलाबी नगरी पड़ा है। राजा जयसिंह द्वितीय के नाम पर ही इस शहर का नाम जयपुर पड़ा। जयपुर भारत के टूरिस्ट सर्किट गोल्डन ट्रायंगल का हिस्सा भी है। इस गोल्डन ट्रायंगल में दिल्ली, आगरा और जयपुर आते हैं भारत के मानचित्र में उनकी स्थिति अर्थात लोकेशन को देखने पर यह एक त्रिभुज का आकार लेते हैं। इस कारण इन्हें भारत का स्वर्णिम त्रिभुज इंडियन गोल्डन ट्रायंगल कहते हैं।
