A fair (or faire, using the older spelling) is a community celebration outdoors in a large area (called the fairgrounds). Activities may include contests, exhibits, judging, games, feats of strength, livestock auctions, fortune-telling, etc. Concessions/snacks might also be available at a fair, but the main purpose is not to sell items. In the United States, fairs often have carnival rides. (Not sure about the UK.)
A bazaar is a marketplace, typically a Middle-Eastern market. It is a public market, but can be in a semi-enclosed arcade instead of outdoors completely. The purpose of a bazaar is to buy and sell merchandise, while a fair may or may not include items for sale.
Fairs that are primarily for buying and selling include craft fairs, food fairs, etc.
