Share an idiom and its story😊
“拔苗助长”or“堰苗助长”
It means pulling up the seedlings in the field to make them look taller.
Once upon a time, there was a famer who was dissatisfied with the slow growth of his seedings,so he went to the field and pulled them up a bit one by one. After returning home,he told his family that he had really worn himself out,but he managed to help the seedings grew taller at once.On hearing this, his son rushed to their feild, only to find that all plants had withered to death.
In China, we have been taught by this story since childhood that we should not rush for success,we should do the right thing at the right time.🙂
