Since it's a model that needs commands and direction, I personally don't know how this particular model could affect us in the long term.
However, I think that it can be a very useful tool when it comes to written translation. Since it is designed to "understand" what we say, the model can translate what we mean more accurately than other online translation tools.

I have experimented and found it helpful for my target language. The big question of how large language models will affect language learning in the future depends on how those models are developed. Currently the key players in AI are American tech firms and are training primarily on English data sets. I am curious how this affects performance in other languages so I created four guided activities (pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and discourse) that seek to 1) explore how ChatGPT can be used for language learning and 2) to evaluate the quality of its outputs in languages other than English. Each activity takes between 30 minutes and an hour to complete.
