Last Monday I went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned. I saw a woman who had a lot of grey hair and who looked about 50+ with her son. He looked about 13 years old
and wore headgear to protect his head from self-harm. The dentist called his name and came to his side with a hand puppet.
The fat boy screamed, “I don’t want to see a doctor; I want to go back home!” He kicked the dentist’s leg and punched the doctor's stomach. The doctor didn’t get mad at him. His mother apologized to the dentist many times. Then, they left the dental office and went back home. After they finished the treatment, it was my turn to see the dentist.
I said to the dentist, "What is wrong with you? Are you ok?”
He said to me, “I am OK. I have known him since he was a small kid. He is autism. Many dentists refuse to see disabled patients, but I am willing to accept him because I know how hard his parents work to take good care of him.”
I think he is a kind and thoughtful dentist. I am proud of him.
