Speaking of festivals, they usually come with a vacation day/day off.. Today, I will introduce one of my favourite festivals to you.(don't know why the other person changed this sentence - yours is better) It is the Dragon Boat Festival which features Zongzi and boat races. In fact, it is around the corner on Saturday of this week. This special festival has lasted/ been around/existed for over 2000 years. It is in memory of Qu Yuan, the greatest patriotic poet in Chinese history. He committed suicide by drowning himself in the river after his advice was refused by the tyrant. So, most of the activities on that day are on rivers. Meanwhile, people use reed leaves rice, nuts and sugar to make the tasty food, Zongzi. The reed leaves are natural wrappers, with sweet filling made of rice , nuts and sugar inside. After they are steamed for half an hour, everyone can enjoy them. That's the common part of celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival around my country. Different areas have their unique ways to celebrate it. We have another name for this festival called "端午节”. It's a little bit formal. “端(duan)”means first here, "午（wu）”means fifth here, "节”menas festival. So," 端午节" menas the fifth day of the lunar May, not the second fifth . It shows double five on the calendar. Dragon Boat Racing is just about one of the activites. 'Dragon' is not a very good word to describe this festival, as it can easily be misunderstanded by foreign friends. I almost forgot to tell you that there is a three-day vacation for us to enjoy this festival. It's amazing! Maybe I should plan a short trip during the vacation.
