what dose the word scruff mean？ except the back side of neck？
can anybody give me an example？

1) When you see a cat pick up her kittens by the skin on the back of the neck, we call that the "scruff of the neck."
2) Also, when a man does not shave his face for 2 or 3 days, we call the short hair on his face "scruff."

His clothes were old and worn and he was unshaven , he was a bit of a scruff.
