About a month ago,I visited a tree farm which is famous for its location, it's located in the second largest desert of China. The owner of the tree farm introduced us the hardships they have experienced to build this large woods from his grandfather to him, these people from three generations have the only belief that to prevent the desert to get close to farmland and cities. they did it. people finally defeat desert. But you can imagine that when the six men from the first generation stood ahead of the desert without a tree in ten miles around them except sand, how strong their determination was. They began to plant the first tree ,and carried water from place far away from them to water the trees. After countless failure, more and more green spots appear in this area. Someone have died , but their sons inherited the task to continue to fight with the desert until they succeeded to prevent the desert. Today more and more people have realized the importance of protecting environment, but most of them just like to criticize others to break the environment, just a little portion people really worry about our environment and have done some great practice to protect environment and get some spectacular achievements like these heroes from three generations or even more generations in future.

Sometimes, we use the word "orchard" for a tree farm that is cultivated for fruit. If not, then perhaps "forest" or "rainforest" if the area is tropical. "A wood" seems like a small forest. In the UK, we sometimes say "(an area of) woodland" for a wild area of trees - it's an uncountable noun.
