At my work there are a lof of meetings I need to attend. In my job it is possible to work from home. I must admit that I enjoy working from home because I have a great computer setup to do so. When working we need to use online communication tools like Microsoft Teams and chat platforms like Slack. First you need a good setup at home to be able to communicate well. Having a camera and a good microphone is essential, because seeing eachother gives everyone better feedback what you say. A bad microphone lets other don't want to call with you, because a bad microphone quality is bad. Another requirement is a good and stable internet connection, which in some countries or areas in a country is still not normal. Sometimes my internet disconnects and then I need to continue working offline. Another disadvantage is when texting with other colleagues is that they can misunderstand you easily, because of missing context of your expression. I personally experienced it that I had trouble because I wrote that I want to do another task but this implied that I dont want to work, but I actually ment that I am overwhelmed. But online communication does also have advantages. It is possible from anywhere on the world to work with other colleagues. This allows the company to hire a more range of international people. It also allows that It is possible in some type of jobs to work fully remote or from anywhere for example while travelling in the train. Second online communication tools allows us to use their features like meeting a high number of people for example In a daily meeting where everyone in the company should be informed and be able to discuss some points. This of course has the disadvantage that meetings are less personal but it is a kind of requirement in some companies. Next it is possible to share your screen in the online meetings so it is still possible if you have problems the other one can still work with you together with camera and your screen share.
