Hi Graysen you should definitely do it! I spent the last two years learning Russian through a combination of self study, italki / preply teachers and perhaps most importantly talking to my wife. Its really a beautiful language despite some of challenging grammar aspects. Its also spoken widely in other countries in the central Asian region. I was in Georgia and met Georgians, Khazakstanis, Uzbekistanis and Ukrainians who were all speaking russian as a first or second language to a fluent level. Let me know if you need any advice regarding books etc (I recommend a Russian book Suvenir with levels A1-B2)
