Are Power Point presentations compatible with the italki classroom? I recently prepared, and tried to share, a Power Point presentation to introduce colors. The student was only able to see the first slide and he was not able to see the animations. I would appreciate any and all feedback, suggestions, alternatives, etc. Thanks.

Answer

It is my experience that they don't work. I have had the same experience as you in reverse. A student shared their PowerPoint with me. At the end of their presentation, I said they had forgotten to click forward to the next slides. They actually had done this. I just hadn't seen it - I just saw the first slide.

Answer

### Compatibility Issues
1. **Screen Sharing Limitations**: Many users have reported that when they share their PowerPoint presentations, only the first slide is visible to students. This means that any animations or transitions you’ve included may not be displayed correctly.

2. **Manual Navigation**: Some teachers have mentioned that they need to manually end the PowerPoint and switch slides for the changes to reflect on the student’s end. This can disrupt the flow of your lesson.

### Suggestions and Alternatives
To enhance your teaching experience and ensure your students can see your materials effectively, consider the following alternatives:

- **Convert to PDF**: Save your PowerPoint as a PDF. This way, all slides will be visible without animations, and you can share the PDF directly with your student.

- **Use Google Slides**: Consider using Google Slides instead of PowerPoint. It allows for easy sharing and collaboration, and students can view the slides in real-time without compatibility issues.

- **Create Flashcards**: If your lesson focuses on introducing colors, you might create flashcard-style presentations using tools like Quizlet or Canva. These can be shared easily and are interactive.

- **Screen Share with a Different Tool**: If you have access to other video conferencing tools, you might try using them for your lessons, as they may handle PowerPoint presentations better.

### Additional Tips
- **Test Before Class**: Always do a test run before your class to ensure everything works as expected.
- **Engage with Visuals**: Use visuals that don’t rely on animations, such as static images or simple graphics, to keep your students engaged
But from what i've seen/used is i don't use Italki Classroom,i only use zoom but as i learn Chinese i use Wechat/QQ
