Many Chinese classmates and students I know have this issue but in reality, everyone trying to learn a new language has this fear. What you should do is think about how you would feel when someone is trying to improve their chinese with you, you wouldn’t judge them and you’d probably be more than happy if not excited to help them understand. It’s the same with native English speakers, we really don’t judge and are often impressed and happy for you that you want to learn English.
Anxiety around speaking can be hard to get over but just know that anyone here and anyone that has taken the time to either translate what you’re saying or be patient with you, wants you to speak and wants you to make mistakes so that they can help you improve and make sure you are more confident with your ability :) especially in a classroom setting, not speaking at all makes it hard for other people and it can make others feel awkward, think of it like this, you have taken the time to learn a whole new language and you are able enough to communicate and understand even if it’s simple things, that’s a big achievement and as long as you have at least 1 person that you know wants to see you improve, you can use that as a safe space and built up confidence to reach out. 你做得很好! 如果您需要帮助,请随时留言!
