Is that "as a pastor " means 作为一个过来人 in Chinese?

Happy new year  ^^

Is that "as a pastor " means 作为一个过来人 in Chinese? If not, how to translate this "作为一个过来人" in English?

Thanks in advance!

What do you think of "become a person with rich life experience <em>[in XXX]</em>"?

If you want to be informal, "become a person who's seen it all before"

If my understanding of 过来人 is correct, it means somebody who has learnt a lot from life and experienced (as opposed to from books).

I'm not sure where you got "pastor" from - a pastor is similar to priest in the Christian religion.

@Alan 谢谢您用心的建议与宝贵的时间 and I found that the second half of sentence you translated was also helpful for me, great answer! [ though it was not "add oil" for 加油 but come on when i checked it~maybe it was because Mr Baidu Translate didn't get drunk today haha]

Have a great day and thanks again!

<em>作为一个过来人,我体会过中国应试教育的压抑,但是也经历了互联网时代的网络自由</em>

You can say it this way, but it's slightly unnatural:

As someone with life experience, I've been through the constraints of China's exam-orientated educational system, but I've also experienced the internet freedom of the online age

Sometimes to get a more natural translation we need to rethink the original...I would write

In my lifetime, I have been through the constraints of China's exam-orientated educational system, but I've also experienced the internet freedom of the online age

加油!...or as Baidu translate might say, "Add oil!" ;-)

@Alan: Thanks for your advice ^^I found "as a pastor " from Baidu Translation and I think it sounds strange so turn to help form italki, the situation that I want to use is in this sentence: ”作为一个过来人,我体会过中国应试教育的压抑,但是也经历了互联网时代的网络自由“ is this one "As a person who have experienced 。。。。。" sounds reasonable?

Thanks again and hope you have a greatday! 祝您愉快!

Correction: "become" isn't good for 作为, "as" might be better, but it's hard to tell without more context :)
