When speaking English, why do French people pronounce "H" when there is no "H"?
Hi, I have noticed that French speaking people pronounce H when they speak English when a word starts with vowel. For example, instead of saying apple, they often say happle. Instead of saying, I ate chicken. They say I hate chicken. I understand that they often do not pronounce H when there is H since H is silent in French. But I don't understand why they put H when there is no H although they don't even have that sound in their language. I hope I am clear. I am very curious and I really want to know. I just simply cannot understand. If anybody has an answer or suggestion, please let me know. Thanks! Have a good day! :)

You say Koreans pronounce R as L, but don’t they also pronounce L as R? It’s the same with the French — when they try to pronounce the H, they often find themselves pronouncing an H when there is none. This sort of “hypercorrection” is a common error when learning a language. For that matter, some native English speakers wrongly use “my friend and I” as the object, when it should be “my friend and me.” It’s just two sides of one coin, I guess. The good news is that French people can learn when to pronounce the H and when not too, although it is far easier when they take a few minutes to learn the difference before memorizing 10000 words the wrong way….

:( but i am so curious. When there is a mistake a language group makes in general there is usually a good reason for it. For example, many Koreans pronounce R as L because in Korean, there is no R sound so it is hard for us to pronounce it. A lot of English speaker will pronounce ㅃ as ㅍ because there is no ㅃ sound in English so it is hard for them to pronounce that. And as I mentioned, many French speaker forget to pronounce H when they speak English because in French they do not pronounce H..... but I cannot understand why French pronounce H when there is no H... I was hoping maybe some French speakers can help me solve this mystery :)

Somehow I can know why. In Farsi we haven't sound (th) so usually we pronounced it as (T) but when we try to pronounce (th), all words which start with T, pronounced as (th). Forexample (thanks to you): They sayied it as: (tanks to you).Or:(Thanks tho you) but good news is it can be solved easily whit practice :)
