I think when there are big, high profile teachers, they get automatic promotion because of the amount of people they know. So I decided it would be cool if we had a discussion whereby all teachers could promote their courses, new aspects they have available and use this to broaden their reach for more students! Get promoting guys :) Here's mine:
I'm a professional Irish and English teacher with a passion for learning. I have just dedicated my entire summer to teaching these languages, therefore I've revised my prices and course material. My course materials include ebooks, grammar and vocabulary resources, new tips & notes, new topics, comprehensions, listening audios and worksheets for after lesson time. I feel the amount of work I put into my new syllabus is reflected in my course prices which are laid out on my page. However, because I am available Monday-Sunday, my prices are cheaper this time around :) There are teachers out there who provide cheaper lessons than me, but, as I said, my prices are set in this way because when I have a student, I create lesson plans around what they want, which could include creating materials from scratch.

I love teaching Irish moreso than anything and I hope more people take to the language because it is so beautiful.

I beg to differ a bit with what you said. I don't think the big and high profile or experienced teachers are having all the attention and one of the reason for that might be their high price range. So, it doesn't matter how experienced one is, but how one can make his/her presence visible to the people around. Once people get to know you and notice your presence, they'll automatically take a look at your teaching profile. But the main problem is how to let other know that you are also a teacher among many? For that, I am not very much in for of the advertisement in the discussion forum but yes, no doubt you have a better alternative to that. You can spend some of your precious time getting involved in the community activities like answering some questions, making some corrections or you may create some interesting discussion to know others' views on some subjects that you're interested in. This is the best way that I can think of to let other give a chance to notice your presence and your devotion and contribution towards this community.

Making ourself known on italki through answering questions, correcting notebooks and initiating or even commenting on discussions is one of the best ways to promote oneself.
