What is the German equivalent of the English word " ever" ?
Ex - will it ever be enough ?
Ex - what have you ever done to deserve....?
Ex: best sandwich ever
Definition : at any time ( the context I'm asking for"
Most sentences can be completed without the word, but it does add an extra emphasis - is there something similar in German?
(sorry about the duplicate posts - somehow had a multiple account and logged in on the wrong one)
With verbal phrases: je/jemals
Wird es je/jemals genug sein?
Womit hast du das je/jemals verdient?
With nominal phrases: aller Zeiten
das beste Sandwich aller Zeiten
Das ist das beste Sandwich aller Zeiten. (emphasis is on "Sandwich")
Das ist das beste Sandwich, das ich je/jemals gegessen habe.(emphasis is on "gegessen")
The words je/jemals and aller Zeiten put an extra emphasis but also change the meaning. Similar like in English where "Will it be enough" and "Will it ever be enough" have slightly different meanings.
