I've lately read some materials about the sound of ض in Arabic. This letter's pronuncition has changed over time and it is pronounced differently in every Arabic country now. Of course every Arabic dialect can have its own phonetics based on the specific background. But when it comes to reciting Holy Quran and praying, I know there are some rules that should be observed and words' meanings change if one doesn't pronounce every single letter truly.
ض has a unique sound and no language has such a sound except Arabic. That's why Arabic is sometimes called لسان الضاد. As far as I know, the way it is pronounced now, the Egyptian way which is d-liked, is far from the original Hijazi ض. The original one allegedly is very difficult to pronounce even for Arabs themselves. That's why they thought of a new way to pronounce this letter. Although it has gotten common even among qurra to make its sound like d, I'd like to learn its original sound. Whould you please explain to me how to do the original sound of ض? (I already know how to pronounce دال مفخم) I'd also be glad to read your ideas and experinces about this letter's sound in your country.

This might not be the information you're looking for, but many linguists believe that the sound of the ض has changed drastically over time. Sibawayh wrote that the ض was pronounced "between the first part of the side of the tongue and the adjacent molars." This is quite different from its sound in modern Arabic. Thank you for your comment. I've already seen some videos about sounds in Arabic. I started learning tajwid at the age of 10. I've learned how to make Arabic sounds which are different. Now, I just struggle with ع. I know how this sound should be made. My brain knows it but my throat doesn't! :D ... My throat should be trained. As for ض, I can pronounce dal mufakhama perfectly. But the original Hijazi one is ambiguous to me. So I started this discussion in the hope of receiving some hints from my Arab sisters and brothers. But I don't where they are! :P

yes, it’s similar to دال مفخمة
But has special sound in our Levantine dialects and Egyptian we pronounce it as in Fus’ha but in Iraq and Arabic Gulf pronunce it as In Iran and Turkey
