No, I haven't. I try to make friends with all the dogs that I meet. Most of them just ignore me, some bark at me and run away. One even filed a complaint. Now I have a restraining order.

However, once when I was getting home at night some dog tried to bite me, so I pulled out a pepper spray (I carry it for people exclusively but there are times where one just has to make a decision what's more important - following a general rule that says never to hurt a dog or avoiding being bitten). The gesture was enough - the dog ran away. So no big deal really. 

We ate the cherries and thought about nothing evil, when the owner came with his dog. Guess, what happened! We wanted to flee, but the dog caught me and bit me in my calf. Fortunately, I wore Wellingtons/ rubber boots. But I still have the scar. We both had a guilty conscience, and I knew I could get rabies. However the fear towards my mother has been bigger than my fear to get rabies. So I survived! :-) But never again I climbed on a cherry tree. Too bad!!! Apart from that, I love dogs and cats!

"I've been bitten a few times by various dogs." - Man, you're quite unlucky :p sorry, kidding.....

Luckily, I was never been bitten by any dog :) ... However, I agree with @<a ui-sref="user({id:comment.commenter_obj.id})" href="https://www.italki.com/user/4712625" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">Marija</a>, I'm kind of afraid of that too cause here in my place there are many dogs wandering around on the streets, it is very common...

I don't know much about the matter but, from what I heard, dogs are quite territorial so I always try to avoid invading their territories if possible, make unnecessary eye contact or if I need to pass through a place with one or more dogs I try to circle the best distance I can around and if they threaten me or come too close I pretend to pick something from the ground to throw at them while keeping up my pace and it had worked well so far ... but who knows it can happen any day....
