I know a soulmate exists because I married mine. We spent nine years together and they were the best years of my life. Her then husband employed me to care for their disabled daughter and we became friends and everything just fell into place. There is more to the story but it took me many years to get used to her being gone, and my life without her.

For me I see that soul mate is the most important thing in life. It is truly crucial to find someone can participate with you in all your various emotions and without barriers. 

My interest in this topic waxes and wanes. Individuals can know whether they're compatible, but I'm not sure whether it's possible to know whether the concept "soulmate" exists. I've read some interesting books about it, though. One of these was written in a language that I wanted to practice and introduced the topic of "twin flames," which are two people who meet and influence each other for a specific timeframe and purpose- not necessarily romantic. There are also accounts of two people meeting through incredible coincidences which seems to suggest some kind of guiding force at work. Thank you for introducing this subject. I was considering reading another book about it but have a few things I need to finish first. Maybe there will be some interesting posts that satisfy my curiosity for now.
