I recently just learned that temer/temerse can be used in the indicative or the subjunctive depending on what you want to say. For example "Temo que me vaya a descubrir" and "Temo que me van a descubrir'' has a difference in meaning and this difference isn't random either. I believe that most spanish learners start out believing that temer means to fear but it has come to my attention that it can also mean to suspect. this is the case. We know that fear is an emotion and this evokes the subjunctive but perhaps suspicion seems to imply doubt as well, which can also uses subjunctive. For example, dudo que vayáis a aprender lo necesario.
