Because if you keep on lying towards the person u used to like, or u like  and make him/her live in delusion just postpones something inevitable. Telling the truth mostly hurts but sooner they get over it, better.

I think first you need to decide which one is more important, people's feeling or the truth.

Because it helps them clear their tear ducts.
