Faire un carton / Cartonner est une expression française qui signifie 'remporter un grand succès, une nette victoire'.
Afin de mieux comprendre cette expression, il faudrait regarder d'où elle vient. Tout vient à l'origine de ce carton qu'on trouve dans un stand de tir ou dans une fête foraine et qui sert de cible pour tirer. Cela voulait donc dire au début 'marquer un but'.
