I haven't checked out a lot of Cantonese textbooks. But, I recently started a YouTube channel teaching Cantonese. I can see some good ones on Amazon.com. I think the more pictures the book has, the better it is for you. I find them easier to follow and more fun when they include comic in the conversations. I don't recommend those pocket phrase books or from the planet which is lonely. They were too wordy and a bit pointless to remember the whole phrase without knowing what it really means word by word. For me, I recommend

Cantonese for Everyone (Jyutping)

Essential Cantonese (Yale)

Might be a bit challenging looking for books teaching Cantonese because it's mainly distinguished through its way of speech. Formal Cantonese writing would be similar to Taiwanese Chinese (since they both use traditional Chinese characters). There may be Hong Kong based youtube channels where people speak with subtitles that are handy. Sorry can't be of much help, but I think it's amazing that you're learning Cantonese!
