I´d like try to understand better this expression and write examples:
Recently I listened this:
I kind of want to spend some time by myself
What more about this with "kind of"?
Thanks
Kind of litterally means "almost like that but not completely."
But usually "kind of" is what is called a Pragmatic Particle. It is for empathy. It makes the scentence "softer." So if you ask me, "Do you want to go to the movies?" maybe I don't want to hurt your feelings because we are friends so instead of saying, "NO, I want to be by myself" I say, "I kind of want to spend time by myself" because it sounds nicer and less direct or mean.
