First time visitor to Costa Rica

Hey all,

in the near future I'd like to visit Costa Rica.  What things can a first time visitor expect to see, experience, etc.?  Any suggestions on things to see?  What about how to get around to places like the Arenal volcano?

Thanks!

Oh yes, one more thing. The volcano Poas is nice, but please please be aware the the temperature changes dramatically in a matter of minutes. Bring an umbrella, warm clothes, cold clothes, rain boots, etc. Be prepared!! It can get pretty nasty, but it's totally worth it.

Be very careful if you decide to visit Limon, as crime rates have really increased there.

Manuel Antonio is a beautiful beach that you'll definitely want to visit.

The toilets are very sensitive in CR, so make sure you NEVER put toilet tissue directly inside of them.

Don't be surprised when you see that none of the streets have names.

Finally, you'll see that  CR is quite Americanized, so you'll find Taco Bell,  Hooters, etc. there

If you're going to practice your Spanish, you might want to stay out of Heredia or San Jose, or any other major tourist location, because nearly everyone speaks at least some level of English and will be eager to speak in English with you.

Hopefully you find my random comments helpful. Let me know if you have any questions...
