The traditions of baby welcoming in my country always change as the mind of the people changes. In the past, the whole family would stay at the hospital and wait for the baby’s birth. Grandparents would prepare some interesting things for their future grandchild which were usually related to their health, they even willfully prepared some boy's or girl's items to pray for the baby’s gender. But all the things have changed a lot since the 80's. The young couples usually make regular checkups until the expected date then they go to the hospital without their parents. After waiting for a few days, they will see their baby with huge sentiment of happiness no matter if it is a boy or a girl. Three to five days later, they go back home. But we still keep a tradition all the time, the mothers should stay at home with thick clothes and without taking a bath for over one month, only then are they allowed to go outside. It has been proved to be good for the women who just gave birth. It can keep them from a lot of diseases in the next years to come. Some easterners began to follow this old Chinese tradition. In some regions, they celebrate it when the baby is 100 days old. It means the adorable baby can open his eyes, smile and begin to be curious about the world.
