My first English lesson on italki
Weekend. Usually, I prefer sleeping until noon or even until afternoon relaxing from an exhausting week full of university stuff and work. But today I stood up "early" for my very first (British) English lesson on italki. I was too tired to be excited although I had feared stammering and floundering the day before.
Well, in the end I did better than I thought. A few grammar mistakes made me sad though. And my active vocabulary was not as varying as I hoped. I know so many English words and even some idioms but they are all scattering the moment I open my mouth, just leaving some boring friends behind...
Maybe it'll get better with some practise... Hope dies last.

I agree with you. Sadly my British accent is awful! It's getting better though, as I've been hanging out more often with an English classmate.
By the way, have you seen Peep show? It's an English sitcom (I guess we can call it that). It's quite funny, and the accent makes it even funnier. I suggest you give it a look, most of the episodes are on Youtube, I believe. Cheers!

Yes, I like the British accent very much. It sounds so noble and educated to me, but also a little bit exotic since the American accent is uniquitous in Germany. I hope that the British English lessons will get me used to that accent. On the other hand, I need to practise speaking. So, why not killing two birds with one stone...

That's cool. I also have problems remembering vocabulary. It's something I feel I could improve on. Anyway, you seem to speak English quite well and mentioned you're taking British English lessons. Is it because you want to pick up the accent?
