It was said that a funny story happened among during this long travel. A local official offered a monkey to Cixi, which made her very happy. So Cixi gave an order that made the monkey should wear a yellow mandarin jacket. Later she was told some officials complained that be a monkey was treated much better than be a man. She realized the order was so too whimsical so that she ordered to give that yellow mandarin jackets be given to each escorting official.
