Merry Christmas & Happy YALDA Night!

Six nights ago, Iranians celebrated the longest night of the year. In Iran, all members of a family come together on the winter solstice (on the twenty-first of December) and stay together until midnight. They prepare all kinds of available fruits and nuts for this night, especially watermelon and pomegranate. This night is called YALDA Night. Yalda originated at least 4000 years ago in Iranian culture. Orientalists believe that the Christmas ceremony was taken from this Iranian tradition and there is strong evidence to prove that. Iranian new year starts at the beginning of spring (on the spring equinox), when night and day are of equal length.

Well done and very interesting! I attended the Yalda Night celebration at my local university. It was a very enriching experience. I truly enjoyed myself.

A few observations about your essay:

1. Iranian, as a proper adjective, does not have a plural form.

2. Evidence is not countable (usually); therefore, we don't use the plural form.

3. I changed the order of the words and phrases in a few cases; they are optional changes pertaining to style.

I congratulate you on your excellent English!
